On September 20, 2025, as representatives of Guizhou specialty food export enterprises, we visited the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia for business discussions.
This visit deepened our understanding of the Malaysian market and laid a foundation for international expansion of Guizhou sour soup and authentic Chinese food products in the halal food sector.

Company Mission and Industry Advantages

We specialize in exporting Guizhou specialty foods, including traditional fermented sour soup and premium chili products.
Guizhou sour soup is renowned for its natural fermentation process and health benefits, while our chili products are recognized for rich, spicy flavors in international markets.
Recently, we have focused on expanding into Southeast Asian markets, particularly Malaysia, a major halal food consumer, bringing authentic Chinese food flavors to overseas customers.

Embassy Meeting: Exploring Market Opportunities

During the meeting with the Chinese Embassy, we discussed key areas for developing Guizhou specialty foods in Malaysia:

Malaysia’s Halal Food Market Trends

Malaysia is a global leader in halal food production and consumption, with rising demand for healthy, natural products.
The probiotic properties of sour soup and the natural flavor of chili align with local preferences for “clean label” foods.
The growing popularity of Chinese cuisine and hotpot culture in Malaysia presents strong market potential for Chinese food seasonings.

Policy Support and Trade Facilitation

Embassy representatives outlined cooperation frameworks, including halal certification recognition and preferential tariffs, which facilitate the entry of Guizhou food products into Malaysia.
Both parties also explored a dual-track approach: cross-border e-commerce and offline channels (supermarkets, food service supply).

Localization and Brand Promotion

To cater to Malaysian preferences, we plan to launch a “mild-spicy version” of chili sauce and ready-to-eat sour soup packets.
The embassy suggested using Malaysia’s multicultural audience through interactive marketing campaigns, such as the “Guizhou Sour Soup Challenge” on social media, to boost brand recognition.

Future Outlook: Deepening Engagement in Southeast Asia

  • Product Optimization: Develop halal-certified, locally tailored products based on market feedback.
  • Channel Partnerships: Establish long-term collaborations with Malaysian importers, e-commerce platforms, and food service enterprises.
  • Cultural Promotion: Increase awareness of Guizhou Chinese food through tastings and participation in the Malaysia International Food Expo.

The visit strengthened confidence in expanding Guizhou sour soup and authentic Chinese food in the halal food market.
Leveraging policy support and market opportunities, we aim to make these products “star items” in China-Malaysia food trade, bringing the flavors of Guizhou to the world.
